I Love Loxone tech support, they are pretty top notch, even if we can’t fix my issues with the remote controls. For some reason my remote eyes are reading the wrong information every time the buttons are being read in, we’ve tried all sorts this afternoon with no luck. One noteworthy point though, when uploading a new config to the mini-server, remember that the mac is connected via a Loxone Air Remote socket. Especially noteworthy when you are on the phone […]
Its the whole Loxone IR module, and associated devices that goes with it. For some reason i can’t get the setup working, no matter what I do. I’ve managed to read in all the remote controls, when I test the config it looks fine, but the as soon as i go back downstairs to actually do something, it just doesn’t work. I feel a call to Omid coming on.
The latest Loxone device was delivered today, its an Air IR Controller: Am hoping it makes life easier configuring new IR devices on the Loxone, installation was dead easy, and i’ve already started reading in the Humax remote, though am having a few small issues with it. More to follow…….
One of my quarterly trips up to Manchester airport to work with a customer has given me some time to test out my new EE kite 4g wifi point. What can i say about it? well its very pretty, resembling a an iPhone 4s, in fact its so similar in size and look I was convinced it would fit perfectly in an old Speck case I have, I was wrong, its just ever so slightly smaller. The customer site […]
I need to find a small bracket in order to tidy up the Loxone IR receiver which is currently taped to the base of the TV. The double sided tape seems to work for a little while, then clearly the heat from either the TV or radiator degrades the adhesive and it falls to the floor. I’d love it if Loxone had all these little bits and bobs in their store, that I seem to want, but every time i […]
Yet another Loxone order has been placed, this time for the Loxone Air IR transmitter, I spent a couple of hours the other day trying to read in the IR controls for the new Freesat box, sitting on the sofa in the lounge, which was both pretty uncomfortable and pretty unsuccessful. I am hoping i can use the Air IR to easily program remote controls from the comfort of the office, where i have both large screens and a comfortable […]
When I was planning the Home Automation project, I have to admit to I was a little Gung-ho wanting to automate everything in one hit, the reality though is that you can’t just do that, you can build a base infra-structure which has to be right, then you can add the functionality when the time is right. When is the right time? Well in my case, there were two hurdles to overcome, the first being that the products I want / […]
Before we installed the Loxone kit in the house our power monitoring was done by the Scottish Power Unifi, it wasn’t a product without its faults, and had me swearing many times at it when first installed. It consisted of 3 devices, a battery powered clamp/transmitter, a network bridge and desktop display all connecting over its proprietary wireless system. The devices would constantly lose connection to each other, the whole kit was sent backward and forward to Scottish Power several times, then […]
I’ve not checked up on the speed my virgin broadband runs at for a while, it certainly doesn’t seem all that fast at the moment, but heres the speedtest.com result from this morning. I do blindly accept the upgrades that Virgin Media release, but am currently wondering how many other people have the same service purely because the its the fastest they can get, and fast is great isn’t it? I feel relatively happy i’m making use of the […]
Back in October we got our first Amazon Fire TV, when it first arrived i was a bit meh?? Three months on, and its pretty much replaced the Apple TV we were using in the lounge, being an Amazon Prime subscriber we get the amazon video service (Previously LoveFilm) and Netflix, its nice having one box that can finally use either service. The other nice thing is the number of apps for the box, there doesn’t appear to be as […]
