Winter’s here… first Loxone casualty.

Well winter has pretty much arrived, as has Loxone version 10 and the enhanced app with notifications of system problems. We’ve finally turned on the heating, and one of our Air valves has died on us, it still makes all the right noises, and appears to work, but has been reporting that there is no valve present.  To be fair, since we bought it, its not been 100% right, but it was only in our conservatory so we didnt really […]

Garden Lighting Courtesy Of Loxone….

Our latest project on the house has been to make the garden usable throughout the year. The ground is incredibly boggy, due to the fact theres about 50cm’s of earth on top of solid clay. Once the heavens open up for a few days the grass has been disappearing under water. Our solution was to remove the grass altogether and gravel the garden, thus raising the height of the ground by another 6cm’s probably just enough to to hide the […]

Loxone Air Valve – A Few Weeks On…

They were the product i’d been waiting on for months to finish up setup (as far as the word finish can be used in any home automation project) and to be honest its been a complete anti-climax. As poor Omid will tell anyone, this was the product I couldn’t live my life without, I know I could have channelled out the walls and installed mains or 24v powered units, but for some reason i’ve lost interested in making more holes […]

Out With The Old… In With The New.

The time has finally come, its here, the new Loxone Valve Actuator Air, nifty name, just rolls off the tongue doesn’t it? I shall just refer to them as the Air TRV’s for this post. I pity the poor support folks at Loxone for having to put up with me whining that this product wasn’t available, its been months, and after being teased with a preview of a pre-beta product back in January or February, its always been a question […]

The all singing all dancing Loxone Air Touch

In a bid to try and get as many pieces of kit in the house to demonstrate the capabilities of the Loxone system, i’ve bought a few more pieces of kit, this morning i took delivery of the new Loxone Air Touch. Here’s the unboxing:   With 5 switches, a temperature sensor and a humidity sensor this bad boy was screaming to be installed in the conservatory, when I first heard about the AIR concept I wasn’t convinced, though as […]

New Heating System, New Cabinet

Well several days of setup and configuration, and we now have a mains pressurised heating system, controlled from the Loxone. The new cabinet has very little in it so far, a Multi Extension Air, 2 power Supplies and an RGBW Air module. We’ve also added a small 10 port patch panel to link the 1-wire sensors, rather than terminal blocks, as we’ve used in the past. The multi air extension was chosen as it has a good selection of inputs […]

Look Ma, No Wires!!!

A familiar knock at the door from the UPS man, and i have another box of Loxone goodies! Air products seem to be the way forward, well at least that seems to be where Loxone are developing more new products. On the one hand I feel quite disappointed, surely a system at the heart of the home should be hard wired? or should it? For the first time since embarking on this project I’ve managed to install kit without the […]
